After a less than successful foray into the MINK league, Beatrice was a consistent team in the Nebraska State League in 1914. The team played at "Athletic Park" near the high school.

At the end of the season the Beatrice Daily Express reported that many of the ball players were going to play independent ball for the rest of the season.

Roster:

Dennis Bockewitz was a regular at first base in 1914. The 29 year old started in Marshalltown in 1906. He played for Superior in 1910 and 19111. He went home to Missouri after the season.

In the dirt at second base was R. D. Florey.

The hot corner was handled by Will Oriet (also spelled Orlett in some accounts). He was picked up by Lincoln in the Western League after the NSL season ended. He played 29 games for Lincoln and averaged .286.

The short stop for 1914 was E. Hellrich. He averaged .240 in 113 games.

Frank Coe was the captain and the catcher for the 1914 season. The 25 year old Muskogee Oklahoma native averaged .250 for the year.

Clint Neff started in the Nebraska State League as a catcher with the Seward club in 1910. His best year was 1914. Playing for Beatrice he led the league in runs scored and home runs.

Outfield:

Homer Black was a regular in the outfield in 1914. He averaged .303 in 112 games. After the season he left for Oklahoma in pursuit of a team to join. He played for Mason City from 1915-1917 and had a 15 game stint with Lincoln in 1922.

Percy Ling was another regular in the garden in 1914. He averaged .226 in 106 games. He remained in Beatrice for the offseason.

George Brannon played 64 games for Beatrice in 1914 and averaged .207. The 26 year old also pitched for the team.

Pitchers:

McDonnell was 21-9 for the year to lead the team.

A. P. Brian , a Lincoln native was 16-11 for the year.

Thane B. "Bill" Johnson was 17-9 and stayed in Beatrice for the offseason.

Barney McGrath was 6-9. He and his wife went home to Topeka after the season.

George Brannon was a 26 year old in 1914. The Kiowa Kansas native went to Fairbury to play independent ball at the end of the season.
