Pa's team wound up in third place in 1909. The team did well financially as they averaged 1,800 fans in the stands for the season.
Roster:
Harry Welch led Pa's team in 1909. He led the league
with a .372 average in 151 games in the outfield. He also had 51 stolen
bases for the Rourkes in 1909. Harry led the Western league in both 1908
and 1909 in batting.
First base for the Rourkes was held down byJim "Shamus" Kane . He averaged .315 in 153 games. He played in 55 games for Pittsburg in 1908, his only time in the majors. He settled in Omaha and lived there the rest of his life. He died in Omaha in 1947.
Fox played in 148 games split between Lincoln and Omaha. He averaged .261.
King split his time between second and the outfield and averaged .295 for the year.
The infield was an ensemble act in 1909 with a lot of players at various postions during the season. Some of the infielders for the year were: Franks was in 86 games and averaged .237.
Keeley was in 42 games and averaged .231
Lower was in 43 games and averaged .224.Potts was in 43 games and averaged .292.
Gonding was the regular catcher for the year. He averaged .230 in 102 games.
Pitcher:
Saunders was 13-9 in 29 games.
Patton was 5-5 in 12 games.
Johns was 2-9 for the season.
Hollenbeck was 20-17 in 43 games.
Keeley was 20-13 in 42 games.
Lower was 20-12 in 40 games
