Richard Brookhaus started his minor league career as a 19 year old in Fairbury Nebraska. He played for Grand Island and Fairbury in 1923. He played the outfield for 56 games and averaged .255.
He returned to Grand Island in 1924 and averaged .220 in 49 games before the league folded.
He played for Ponca City and Eureka in the Southwestern League in 1926.
In 1931 he was back in Grand Island and averaged .302 in 83 games.
In 1932 he played for both North Platte and Grand Island and averaged .339.
He played for Beatrice in 1933 and 1934 averaging .282 and .306. There is no info for him in 1935 but in 1936 he was back in Beatrice and as a Brooklyn farm hand he averaged .281 in 38 games.
He finished his career with Fairbury in 1937 averaging .211 in 62 games.
