Cy managed the Links in 1935. They lost a number of their 1934 squad to higher classification teams. The Links came in third with a 50-64 record.
In January of 1936, Pug was suspended from baseball. Gambling was suspected, but no official reason was given. Pid Purdy, a former major league player from Beatrice, bought the franchise and Cy was out of a job.
