Dan "Rusty" Tipple was a 32 year old pitcher for Omaha in 1922. He pitched a no hitter against Des Moines and had 23 wins for the Buffaloes. He was third in strike outs with 194 and fourth in walks with 139.
He started his career with Bloomington in the III league in 1912. He bounced from Streator to Huntington before landing in Omaha for the 1914 season. He was 18-11 for Omaha in 1914.
He then went to Indianapolis in 1915 where he was 12-9. The pitcher from Rockford Illinois had a cup of coffee with the Yankees in 1915, pitched 19 innings and had a 1-1 record.
He then pitched in the International League from 1916-1920 with stops at Baltimore, Jersey City, Syracuse and Newark. He then spent part of the 1921 season in the Texas League with Dallas.
His success in 1922 saw him promoted to Minneapolis for 1923 where he was 16-17.
He had a 1-1 record for Omaha in 1928 in his last outings as a professional.
He died in Omaha Nebraska in 1960.
