Fred Wigington was a twenty four year old right handed pitcher from Rogers Nebraska. In 1922 playing for the Hastings Cubs he led the team with an 18-11 record and led the Nebraska State League in strike outs with 260. At the end of the NSL season he moved to Omaha and was 0-4. He was picked up by the St. Louis Cardinals and in 1923 he made his major league debut.
He pitched a total of 8 and 1/3rd innings in the major leagues. He spent most of 1923 at Fort Smith in the class "C" Western Association where he was 18-12. In 1924 he was 15-19 for New Haven in the Eastern League.
