The Western League and the American Association continued their territorial war with heavy financial losses on each side. Bad weather and poor attendance led president Sexton to end the season two weeks early. Players were angry as they lost two weeks of pay. The weather for the season was so bad that six clubs were inactive for 10 days in the spring due to constant rain outs.

Omaha went from first to worst to first from 1902-1904.
