For the 1929 season Norton Kansas replaced Beatrice and the league stayed
with eight teams for the season.
York began the year with a number of players who had started for York in
1928. The town expected the team to be very competitive in 1929 and
although the team was over .500 for the year they wound up in fourth place
for the year.
Former major league and Western league star Art Rasmussen was on hand to welcome over 60 players who responded to the open tryout call at East Hill Park. Rasmussen is an interesting player as he appears on a baseball card for 1912 but is not listed at baseballreference.com as a player on the 1912 Phillies team. |
