The Western League collapsed at the end of the 1958 season leaving a number of teams without a home. Denver and Omaha had jumped to "AAA" ball in 1955 removing two of the larger markets from the league. Sioux City had lost their franchise affiliation after the 1956 season and tried to make it as an independent team. With the collapse of the Western League Des Moines and Lincoln moved to the III (Three "Eye") League. This league lasted through the 1961 season when it also collapsed. |
